‘The Christmas Cottages’ – Emerald Lake Lodge, Yoho National Park. Canadian Rockies Fine Art Photography.
My inspiration and influences for my art often come from painters. When i came across this scene it immediately reminded me of a Thomas Kinkade painting. The artificial light created a beautiful glow on the birch trees and the little cottages nested into the snow covered foliage. This was shot high in the rockies mountians during a holiday trip with my daughter and a new addition to the family; Jadi The Adventure Dog! The composition spoke to me immediatly and as I shot the scene I tried a couple variations but this was definitely the winner! Other painters that inspire and influence my work are; Robert Bateman who my daughter and I had the pleasure of meeting, Mark Hobson based out of the Tofino area, and of course you cant forget Bob Ross! As Bob Ross once said; “I cant think of anything more rewarding than being able to express yourself to others through art. Exercising the imagination, experimenting with talents, being creative; these things to me, are truly the windows to your soul.”
I’m very grateful to be able to create and share my art as well. It is incredibly rewarding when my collectors are touched by my creations enough to diplay them in their homes.
