‘The Escape’ – Vancouver Island Fine Art Photography. Throughout the heart of Vancouver Island there are many stunning waterfalls like this nestled deep in the forest! I had attempted to photography this particular waterfall on multiple occasions but for a number of reasons wasn’t able to come away with an image I was happy with. On this occasions all of the elements I was looking for aligned to create this stunning scene you see here. This scene really benefited from the high over cast lighting conditions with a small amount of subtle directional light. A heavy rain the night before, allowed the moss to be rich and vibrant, as well as just the right amount of water coming over the falls, also allowing the small pool at the base of the falls to have ample amount of water in it to be visible. Also the Maidenhair Ferns (Adiantum pedatum) had also just recently emerged and were at their best this time of year. This may all seem a bit nit-picky, but when you combine many of these smaller details they add up to stunning results. Going to places like this for me is an Escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life, and is definitely a meditative experience for me. Sharing these moments with my clients is an added bonus, especially when I get to see these moments proudly displayed in theirs homes!
