Often i will combine my photography with poetry or lyrics and thought these lyrics suited well. They are from the song ‘Round Here’ by the Counting Crows. This very serene scene was shot one early morning just prior to a devastating storm system that crippled South Western British Columbia in November 2021. This was definitely the calm before the storm. There were some heavy winds, but mainly just incredible amounts of rainfall which created landslides and flooding throughout southwest BC. During this trip on the day we were supposed to head back to the mainland all of our routes out of the Cowichan Bay/ Duncan area we’re cut off by flooding or road erosion from the storm. However within a day they were able to get the north bound route to Nanaimo opened back up and we were able to catch a ferry home.
