‘Purity’ – Whistler Fine Art Photography. This was a challenging place to access and photograph as well as fairly dangerous, especially this late in the season with the amount of run off that we were witnessing during the expedition. As we entered even the first Ice Cave, every bit of cold, slipping, falling and wet feet immediately became a distant memory as we were transported into an Ancient Otherworldly environment! These Ice Caves in the mountains up past Whistler BC were by far the most beautiful place I have ever visited; and for a photographer that gets to see many stunning locations and vistas around the world, that is saying a lot! Many of the tunnels and caverns were brand new to our guide, meaning we were the first human foot prints ever to step foot in these spectacular caves! My goal had been to photograph them late in the season despite that increased dangers, as adding the element of moving water and possible waterfalls created another dimension and juxtaposition of the water in opposing states. The other variable that I had hoped for were clear skies, as a bright day would allow far more light to penetrate the roof of the caves and give them that stunning blue glow that you see here. I was so fortunate to be have everything come together and the results exceeded every expectation that I had. The abstract shapes, lines, and detailing in the ice itself was mesmerizing and could easily be a beautiful piece of artwork in and of itself. This expedition will be hard to top, as well as the various prints that have resulted from this adventure!
