Product Description

‘Time After Time’ – Gastown, Vancouver BC. This area of Vancouver is a National Historic Site, and is named after one of its first residents, Captain John Deighton who was an English Mariner and one of the first saloon keepers of the area. Because of his chatty personality, he was given the nickname “Gassy Jack”, and this area became known as Gastown, being declared an official townsite in 1870. The focal point of this print is the beautiful steam-powered clock, built by Canadian clockmaker Raymond Saunders. At the time it was considered to be the first or second steam clock ever built. I just love the ambience of this scene how the light creates reflections on the wet cobble stones, and the ornate details of the clock as well as the lamp standards at an old world charm! Add the atmosphere and background mist from the rain, as well as steam from the clock and you have such a perfect little scene!
