‘Gangsters Paradise’ – Vancouver Downtown Eastside BC. In talking to people in the area as well as some police officers i’ve learned that the drug possession charges are not really being enforced in the area, so it seems like it would be a free for all from the dealers point of view. I’m not sure if things have changed recently and I don’t begin to say I understand all the issues at hand in this area, but I wonder if legalizing and providing a safe supply may actually be a better alternative to the status quo… This would route out some degree of the criminal element as well as the toxic supply of drugs mainly coming from China, that has become an epidemic in itself. On a lighter note I do like the Film Noir look to this scene as far as the black & white version. It has a 1940’s Gangster Movie vibe to it! Here is a little know price of trivia about the Hazelwood Hotel. Tommy Chong came here in the 1950s to pursue a music career with as part of an R&B band and found his first Vancouver home at the Hazelwood, located just a few blocks from where he later feel into his true calling as half the comedy duo Cheech & Chong. Anyway glad I got the shot and lets just say this was a bit of a dangerous one!
